Bible Text: Acts 5 | Preacher: Shaun Reid | Series: Acts | We had a very interesting morning on Sunday, bravely venturing into the often ignored story of Ananias and Saphira.

This is a tough scripture to read and reflect on.  During my weeks of preparation I was blown away by Gods grace and goodness.  Many times we see God’s forgiveness in the word. Over and over again his grace is poured out on His people.
Its important to look at the scriptures in their entirety when we are making decisions about who we think God is.  We cannot take one scripture or story and make a decision on who God is based on one incident.

The story of Ananias and Saphira gives us an opportunity to reflect on a few questions.

Questions and reflection

How do you in your Character, as a father, mother, friend, employer, employee reflect the Grace and Compassionate character of God?
What areas in your life have been effected by selfishness? (Does the church serve you or do you serve the church?) (Do you serve your spouse or do they serve you?)
How much Time do you spend letting God reshape your Character?
Are there some “little foxes” in your heart that you need to allow God to expose and bring to the surface so that you can deal with them and work on living more like him.

Final Thoughts
I find it fitting that Anania’s name means “God is Gracious”  reminding the reader of who the Father is. Saphira’s name means beautiful, to help us the reader remember how the father sees us.
